Alice Gibbons Hand Made Tiles have an exclusive license with The Natural History Museum London enabling us to use original studies from the vast archives of the Museum
There are almost half a million original drawings and paintings by artists from around the world, some dating back as far as the 16th Century. With the amazing choice of studies and artists we have produced an extensive range of tiles which have an outstanding quality and timeless appeal.
All royalties from sales go towards The Natural History Museum's research into improving the environment.
Thomas Watling was born in Dumfries in 1762. He established himself as a painter. In 1789 he was convicted of forgery and sentenced to fourteen years at Botany Bay. On arrival in Australia in 1792, Watling was set to work by the Surgeon-General, John White, to make a collection of drawings around the settlement. He was granted a pardon in 1797 and eventually found his way back to Scotland.
